Sticker Application Guide
Your new Doodle Design Co. sticker is ready to add some personality to your favorite items! Follow this guide to get the perfect application and keep your sticker looking amazing for the long haul.
What You'll Need
Before you start, gather these items for the best application:
- Cleaning supplies - Damp cloth and/or isopropyl alcohol (recommended)
- Application tools - Credit card or squeegee for smoothing
- Lint-free cloth - For final surface prep
- Good lighting - To spot any bubbles or imperfections
- Clean workspace - Free from dust and debris
Surface Preparation
A clean surface is key!
Before applying your sticker, you'll want to make sure your surface is spotless. Any dirt, oils, or residue can prevent proper adhesion and cause your sticker to peel or bubble.
How to Clean Your Surface
- Remove any existing residue - Use a plastic scraper or credit card to gently remove old stickers or tape
- Clean with damp cloth or isopropyl alcohol (we recommend isopropyl alcohol) - Wipe down thoroughly to remove dirt and oils
- Let it dry completely - Wait for the surface to air dry before applying your sticker
- Final wipe - Use a lint-free cloth to remove any remaining particles or fibers
Best Surfaces for Application
- Smooth, non-porous surfaces work best (glass, metal, plastic, painted surfaces)
- Avoid porous or soft surfaces - Stickers can't be placed on fabric, unfinished wood, or rough textured surfaces
- Clean, dry conditions - avoid humid or dusty environments
- Room temperature - cold surfaces can affect adhesion
Perfect Sticker Application
The Right Way to Apply a Sticker
Step 1: Position Before You Peel
Hold your sticker in place (backing still on) to find the perfect position
- Use a pencil to lightly mark corners if needed for larger stickers
- Make sure you're happy with placement - repositioning can weaken the adhesive
Step 2: The Peel and Stick Technique
- Start small - Peel back just a corner of the backing paper
- Smooth as you go - Apply the exposed section, then gradually peel and smooth
- Use firm pressure - Press from the center outward to avoid air bubbles
- Take your time - rushing leads to wrinkles and bubbles
Step 3: Final Smoothing
- Remove air bubbles - Use a credit card or squeegee to push bubbles toward the edges
- Apply firm pressure - Go over the entire sticker with consistent pressure
- Let it cure - Allow 24-48 hours for full adhesion before heavy use
Pro Application Tips
- Warm surfaces stick better - Apply stickers at room temperature or slightly warm
- Avoid stretching - Don't pull or stretch the sticker during application
- Work out bubbles immediately - They're much harder to remove once set
- For curved surfaces - Apply from the center and work outward in sections
