Prints Application Guide

Your new print is more than just artwork it's a piece of creativity ready to transform your space! We're here to help you give it the perfect home while keeping it looking vibrant for years to come.

Our Frame Recommendation

We highly recommend framing your print! While our prints are beautiful on their own, a quality frame does so much more than just look good - it's your artwork's best protection against dust, moisture, and everyday wear. Plus, there's something special about that finished, gallery-ready look that makes your space feel more intentional and polished.

Hanging Your Print Like a Pro

Choosing the Right Spot

Finding that perfect wall space? Here's what we've learned works best:

  • Away from direct sunlight: UV rays are art's biggest enemy, causing those beautiful colors to fade over time
  • Stable temperature areas: Avoid spots near heating vents, fireplaces, or air conditioners
  • Low humidity zones: Bathrooms and basements might seem cozy, but your print prefers drier spaces

Hanging Methods That Work

For Lightweight Frames or prints with no frame (up to 5 lbs):

  • Command strips - Our go-to recommendation! They're renter-friendly and won't damage your walls

(P.S: Only use the command strips if you are using a lightweight frame, not just to back a print. It will tear the print.)

  • Picture hanging strips - Perfect for smooth surfaces and easy repositioning
  • Small finish nails - Classic and reliable for permanent placement

For Heavier Framed Prints:

  • Wall anchors with screws - Essential for drywall without studs
  • Picture wire and hooks - The traditional method that's stood the test of time
  • French cleats - For larger pieces that need extra security

Pro Hanging Tips

  • Use a level - trust us, even slightly crooked art catches everyone's eye
  • For gallery walls, lay everything out on the floor first
  • Leave 2-3 inches between multiple pieces

Storage That Protects Your Investment

The Perfect Storage Environment

Think of storage like giving your prints a cozy, climate-controlled vacation:

  • Humidity sweet spot: 30-50% relative humidity (a small hygrometer can help monitor this)
  • Temperature: Keep it consistent around 65-70°F
  • Darkness: Store in dim, indirect lighting

Storage Methods That Actually Work

For Unframed Prints:

  • Flat storage in acid-free boxes or portfolios
  • Archival tissue paper between each print (it's like silk pajamas for your artwork)
  • Never roll prints - they remember creases longer than we'd like

For Framed Prints:

  • Store upright, never stacked flat
  • Wrap in acid-free tissue or bubble wrap
  • Create barriers between frames to prevent scratching

Storage No-No's

  • Attics and basements (temperature and humidity fluctuations are brutal)
  • Direct contact with cardboard (the acids can transfer over time)
  • Plastic bags (they can trap moisture)
  • Leaning against walls for extended periods

Handling Your Prints with Care

We get it - you're excited to unwrap and hang your new art! Here's how to handle it safely:

  • Clean, dry hands only - oils from skin can transfer to paper
  • Hold by the edges - avoid touching the printed surface

When Things Go Wrong

Life happens! If your print gets damaged:

  • Small tears: Contact us right away - we might have solutions
  • Water damage: Remove from moisture immediately and let air dry flat
  • Fading: Prevention is key, but reach out if you notice changes

Framing for the Long Haul

Ready to level up your print's life?

  • UV-filtering glass or acrylic - worth every penny for protection
  • Acid-free matting - prevents those brown stains that appear over time
  • Quality frames - they're an investment in preserving your art
